Chapter Seven

7 – Walkabout

This time was different. She never lost consciousness and was keenly aware of the exact moment where her feet touched the ground. She felt a strange pressure in her chest and a crackling of static electricity as her feet landed softly on the cobblestone street. She opened her eyes to see her hair and Corwyn’s floating around them as though they were both suspended in water. Then the electricity faded, the pressure released, and she stood, hands clasped with Corwyn’s, staring up into his mask-like face.

Welcome!

Welcome to the home of Three O’Clock, a serial web-novel updating on Sundays. In the broadest terms, it is a modern fantasy story (with a hint of anime undertones), and is recommended for readers aged 16+ due to occasionally coarse language and potentially sensitive themes.

If you are a returning reader, the current chapters may be found on the front page or at the 3oclock_talk LJ community, as always.

If you are a new reader, please start reading at the beginning. Three’s chapters are often not self-contained and it is recommended that new readers read from the beginning to get the most out of subsequent chapters. All chapters are linked together, skipping over any posts that are not tagged “chapters” so that you may read uninterrupted by my non-story rambling if you so choose. :)

If you wish to contact me, please feel free to do so! You can do this through comments on this site, through comments on my personal LiveJournal, comments on the LJ community, or by sending an email to: harpydora-at-gmail-dot-com.

Chapter Six

6 – Home Again

Between Sil’s apartment and the Kitazawa residence stretched about half an hour of uncomfortable silence interspersed with Yuri describing, somewhat awkwardly, her second experience in the darkness.

Community!

I thought I’d let you all know that I’ve opened a community over on LiveJournal for Three O’Clock discussion. It will have mirrors of the chapters (once I’m done reformatting them because LJ does not like the formatting I used for WordPress), and membership is open to anyone and everyone who wishes to discuss chapters, the story, or anything even vaguely related. I’m hoping to create a place where people who read this story can interact with each other and have fun.

It can be found at 3oclock_talk. Please feel free to join and enjoy yourselves! :)

Chapter Five

5 – Spires

She hadn’t known exactly what she’d expected when the spindly towers in the distance became less distant, but she knew that she hadn’t quite believed Len’s description of the heart of the city practically being carved from the bedrock. At first, it seemed she had been right: the first few layers of the city seemed like a cross between an idyllic Victorian suburb (or what she imagined one might look like) and some sort of bland architectural style that wouldn’t have seemed too out of place back home. As near as Yuri could tell, the streets were all cobblestone or brick, extremely well taken care of, and apparently laid out in a sort of spiraling pattern like a nautilus shell.
